THE NEW WORLDS

To boldly go…

Humans have long looked to the sky as a landscape of dreams and imagination. We cloud watch or star gaze and see the shape of our own creative worlds in them.

It is also our actual portal to other worlds whether through a telescope or by rocket. To date astronomers have discovered over 3,500 planets outside our solar system, dawning a new age of exploration and wonder. The methods used to find these planets are indirect. It may be decades, even centuries, before we see any visible light images of what they may look like.

Inspired by the recent discovery of a planet orbiting a star in the Alpha Centauri system, our nearest star system neighbor, I look to the sky and search for the faces of these worlds among the clouds.
